Types of passport

Documents required for fresh passport

Minor
  • For minor applicants, present address proof document in the name of parent(s) can be submitted.
  • It is advised to carry original and self-attested copies of parents passport to Passport Seva Kendra
    (PSK), in case parents possess passport.
  • For minor applicants, documents can be attested by parents.
  • The minor applicant is eligible for Non-ECR till he/she attains the age of 18 years

Adult
  • Driving license,Voter Id,Adhaar card,Bank Passbook,10th Passing Certificate(Any 2 ID)
  • 10th Passing Certificate is compulsory
  • If 10th Certificate is not available then Last three year ITR will be required
  • If You dont have 10th Certificate and also no ITR,then carry higher education certificate

Senior Citizen

A senior citizen is anyone who has attained the age of 65 years qualifies to be a senior citizens if they
meet the following requirements:


  • Eligibility Criteria
    • If you are above the age of 65 years and you are NOT a resident of Jammu and Kashmir
    • To apply for a passport, the applicant must fill in the application online and make the payment for
      the fees.
    • Senior citizens are eligible to walk in without any appointment. So booking of the slot is not needed.
    • You must obtain an ARN which is required when you visit the Passport Seva Kendra. In addition,
      applicants should also refer to any advisory issued by the concerned Passport Offices from time to time.
    • This is not applicable to Indian citizens who are from other states and have been deployed on official duty
      in Jammu and Kashmir by the Government of India

ECR/ECNR
  • ECR stands for Emigration Check Required and ECNR stands for Emigration Check Not Required.
  • ECR status will be printed in the passport of the applicants who fall in the ECR category.For those falling
    in the Non-ECR category, there will be no specific mention in the passport.
  • The practice of putting Non-ECR (previously ECNR) stamp has been discontinued.

Online Appointment Booking

Online Payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all Passport Seva Kendras/Passport Offices.
Online Payment can be made using any one of the following modes


E-Payment Modes
  • Credit/Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa)
  • Internet Banking (State Bank of India (SBI) and Associate Banks and Other Banks)

Challan Payment Mode
  • Bank Challan(payable at SBI branches in india only)

Pay And Book Appointmnet

Payment once made for availing passport services will not be refunded,if payment is successfully
done,please do not pay again.

Cancel /Schedule Appointment
  • Click the schedule appointment link on the view Saved/Submitted application screen
  • Click the Reschedule/Cancel appointment button
  • A confirmation message displaying the count of reschedule/cancel attempts left is shown
  • In case of rescheduling the appointment, select the preferred PSK and click the next button
  • After checking the available appointment date displayed for the PSK, click the Book Appointment
    button. An appointment (if available) is booked automatically for the selected PSK and previously
    booked appointment for the ARN is automatically cancelled
  • The Appointment Confirmation screen is displayed with the Print Application Receipt button to
    print the application receipt

Submit an Application at Passport Seva Kendra
  • Security check, security person check you appointment slip and time
  • Pre-processing Area Collect a token from the Token Issuance Counter
  • Token Number is used for further sequential processing of application at PSK
  • Wait in the waiting area till your Token Number is displayed on the Token display screen
  • Token Numbers are displayed on the Token display screen, applicant needs to proceed
    towards the designated PSK Counter ‘A
  • Citizen Service Executive(CSE) will scan and upload supporting documents into the
    Passport Seva system
  • CSE will click your photograph, take fingerprints, Personal Particulars as in the system will be
    printed and given to you for verification and signature, this would be scanned and uploaded in the system
  • After this wait for the screen ,Token Number is displayed for further processing at designated PSK Counter ‘B’
  • Verification Officer (VO) will check the original documents for completeness and correctness
  • After this wait for the screen,,Token Number is displayed for further processing at designated PSK Counter 'C'
  • Granting Officer (GO) takes a decision on granting of the passport
  • Exit Gate Collect the printout of the final status of your application
  • Keep this Acknowledgement Letter to track the status of your application

Check Application Status
  • Steps to Check Application Status: - Passport Applications - Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)
  • Open passport seva portal
  • Click “Track Application Status” link
  • Enter File Number and Date of Birth of Applicant
  • Click the “Track” button 15 digit number printed on the top of Acknowledgement letter
  •  Status of the Passport Application is shown here

Police Verification

After completing all the passport procedure,within 10to 12 days,police verification is required for issuance of passport


  • There are 2 modes of police verification
    • Police Verification is required on a Post-Passport Issuance basis
    • Police Verification is required on Pre-Passport Issuance basis
  • If your age is 18 or above,you must submit any three document out of Link
  • If your age is below 18, you must submit any two document out of Link
  • Passport Instruction Booklet

Printing & Dispatch
  • After Police verification,you will receive Passport Printing SMS
  • If you will not receive printing SMS after police verification then contact to RPO or 1800 258 1800
  • After some days ,you will receive a passport dispactched SMS ,with tracking number

Passport will be dispatch within 2/3 days.
